ssh SOCKS proxy

Useful fact I didn’t know until today. Do this:

ssh -D8008 me@my.ssh.server.at.work

And you’ll get a SOCKS proxy on localhost:8008. Then you can just tell Firefox (or whatever) to use it and all your web requests will go through your server, giving you access to journal articles etc.
